Hinduism and Hindutva

September 8, 2010 |07:45 | Hinduism  By : Team X

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s reference to saffron terror has been topic of a raging debate in Congress. I have argued elsewhere that it’s a pointless debate. Read the article Here I am suggesting a label for terrorism inspired by Hindu fanatics. Hinduism and Hindutva are two words, which are being used interchangeably but the meanings of these words have different connotations. Mixing up these words are part of the Sangh Parivar’s political strategy to appropriate Hinduism. It’s easy therefore, to understand why Parivar associates use both these words to refer to matters relating to the Hindu religion and its followers. What is intriguing is the political illiteracy of Congressmen who are unable to distinguish between them and confront Hindutva.

Priests Should be Permitted to Marry

September 7, 2010 |08:23 | Christianity  By : Team X

Priests should be permitted to marry Priest is no doubt the one whom we admire and respect as long as Chritianity is concerned. However, are they a good role model? If we think that a priest should remain as a bachelor for the rest of his life, read on. Mother Theresa once said that a good advice is determined by its echoes. Now let me relate this to the life of a priest.

Can a priest talk about marriage if he himself has never gone through a marriage? Do you have any answer? Can you respect a teacher who graduates in History but then is asked to teach Biology? In conclusion, the blind leading the blind. A priest must be allowed to get married because he must experience the ups and downs in a marriage. I believe the Christian followers would love to see how a priest builds a marriage. Otherwise, if a priest remains single, anything he says about a marriage will be meaningless. It is like watching a newscaster reading a text on the screen in which he or she has no genuine interest in the said issues.

Hinduism and the Concept of God

September 6, 2010 |08:25 | Hinduism  By : Team X

The Hindu concept of God goes beyond considering Him as the supreme, all mighty and omniscient figure. According to Hindu teachings, though God governs the whole universe, every human being can develop a personal relation with Him. One can worship God out of love and not only out of fear. Devotion or bhakti is a form of love that the followers of Hinduism have for God. It is often referred to as a key principle of Hinduism, even by the philosophically inclined people.According to Hindu scriptures, God is beyond any attributes of form, color and shapes. He does not have any specific form or name and is referred to as Nirguna brahman (attribute-less god). However, God can take any form. He can be strong and powerful, the provider of boons, the destroyer or the savior. These forms provide a basis for the Hindu worshipper to easily pursue the otherwise inconceivable supreme deity. In general, Hindu followers believe that God is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent.

Islamic World Domination

September 5, 2010 |14:49 | Islam  By : Team X

The question is not whether terrorism is now a world-wide reality, but why is terrorism happening at all? And, is it possible to thwart the activities of the Islamic extremists?

To understand how to deal with an enemy, one must first seek to understand the issues. What is their motivation? Do they have a goal?

Who are these people? Why are they willing to go to such desperate lengths? Why are their own lives apparently expendable? Why do they target innocent civilians who have no direct conflict with them, and have no understanding of their agenda? Why attack office towers? Why attack buses carrying innocent, unarmed civilians? Why disguise themselves as normal passengers, or shoppers, or college students? Why hide in the everyday crowd, then attempt to perpetrate as much carnage and damage as possible? How do you fight an enemy you cannot identify until it is too late?

Why are all these attacks committed by Islamic adherents? Is this only coincidence, as some would make us believe? Would it not be expedient to pay some attention to the Islamic religious orientation, and ask some searching questions?

In our multi-cultural democratic society we embrace diversity. On the surface this is an applaudable virtue. However, the Islamic terrorists are taking advantage of our propensity to be accepting, and are wielding our ideological "freedom for all" against us! They hide within their own religious people, most of whom, on the surface at least, appear to be peaceful. They also know it is unacceptable for the rest of the western democratic population to single out one religion for vilification. While we are busy bending over backward to make certain religious freedom is available to all, those of a religious orientation that desires to destroy all other religions, operate from within that freedom and safety to wage war against us.

Hinduism- What Does it Say About Big Bang?

September 4, 2010 |07:55 | Hinduism  By : Team X

Big Bang tries to explain the origin of the universe. At present there seems to be a general consensus that universe began with a big bang. What does Hinduism say about this? Before we discuss that let us discuss the main theory about Big Bang.

Big Bang idea came into play after it was found that the universe is expanding constantly. It has been found that the heavenly bodies are running away from us. The speed is proportional to their distance from us. Those that are farthest are traveling at the maximum speed. There was no explanation for this other than saying that all heavenly bodies emerged from a point and after explosion started traveling outward.

Islamic Holy Hadys

September 1, 2010 |20:18 | Islam  By : Team X

Islamic Holy Hadys: There are only two Muslim festivals set down in Islamic law: Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha ( Eid is a word significance for festival). But there are also several other unique days which Muslims celebrate. Some Muslims disapprove of commemorateing the birthday of the Prophet (pbuh), on the grounds that it is an innovation, and novelty in religious matters are prohibited.

Some Muslims say that if amended were made in sacred issues it would entail that Islam was not absolute when it was exposed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), or that the Prophet (pbuh) did not tell Muslims everything that was revealed to him. This would be seen as extremely irreverent by many Muslims.

Cross divides Poles on role of religion in public life

August 13, 2010 |14:04 |   By : Team X

A cross erected in front of the presidential palace in Warsaw for late president Lech Kaczynski has sparked sharp debate in deeply Catholic Poland over the role of religion in public life.A recent attempt to move it has provoked high-pitched protests by both supporters, who want it to stay put, and opponents, who believe the religious symbol should not stand in front of an equally symbolic secular state institution.

In a first in devoutly Catholic Poland, several thousand people rallied in Warsaw this week protesting against the religious symbol standing in a public space. The mostly young demonstrators gathered around midnight Monday for the rally, organised on the Facebook social networking site where the "Akcja Krzyz" (Cross Action) group has drawn over 43,000 members.
