It is believed that on the full moon night (October 22, 2010) following Dusshera or Durga Puja, Goddess Lakshmi herself visits homes of devotees and replenishes its inhabitants with wealth.

This full moon in eastern India is referred to as the Kojagari Purnima, when Lakshmi is worshiped with gaiety. Housewives draw patterns on the floor with rice paste, called 'alpana' featuring Lakshmi's feet, to welcome the goddess to their homes in the evening.
