Christmas tree recycling

Posted in : Christianity

(added last year!)

Give the Earth a gift this season - recycle your Christmas tree! Recycled Christmas trees are ground up and turned into mulch or compost instead of taking up space in the landfills. Recycled trees provide nutrients to our soil.

Trees must be prepared for recycling by removing all decorations, lights, tinsel and tree stands. Flocked trees cannot be recycled and need to be cut up and placed in your regular trash container. Most trash haulers will be collecting Christmas trees for two weeks after Christmas. Place the prepared tree next to the green waste container on your regular pick-up day. Trees over four feet tall should be cut in half.

For those who don’t have a curbside pickup program, drop-off locations will accept residential prepared trees for free for two weeks after Christmas: Lamb Canyon Landfill, 16411 Lamb Canyon Rd., Beaumont (up to three for Free) All recycled Christmas trees will be ground into mulch or composted with other yard waste, providing benefit to other plants by improving soil conditions. Unfortunately, trees that are not recycled will only occupy valuable space in our landfills.
