The foundation aims to conserve the land, cultures and wildlife of Namibia and to rescue species threatened by an ever-shrinking habitat. It also strives to improve the lives of the San people through better education, employment, healthcare and living conditions.
Rudie and Marlice van Vuuren, directors and founders of N/a'an ku sê, were overjoyed by the fact that American actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt chose N/a'an ku sê to be their partner in Namibia. “We have known Rudie and Marlice for many years and continue to be impressed by their hard work and dedication to the people and conservation of the land and wildlife of Namibia,” Jolie said. “The new section of the project will be under N/a'an ku sê and in Shiloh’s name. We want her to be very involved and grow up with the understanding of her country of birth,” Jolie said.
Jolie, Pitt and their children spent Christmas together at N/a'an ku sê, where the children watched Rudie stitch the wounds of a wild dog, helped Marlice and her five-year-old son Zacheo feed and care for orphaned baby baboons and foxes, visited the San school on the farm and even witnessed the release of a leopard into the wild. During their stay in Namibia the celebrity family also visited Sossusvlei where they went on a hot-air balloon flight.
